NYC based Japanese Violinist/composer Mari Kimura is playing with an octo-limbed(?) robot designed by LEMUR (the League of Electronic Music Robots) for her (their) performance celebrating the 100th birthday of New York’s Japan Society.
According to Kimura, her duet partner involves four sets of guitar slides and picks, two motors in x-y formation which is like “… playing four different guitars at the same time”, says the 1995 Kenzo Nakajima Music Prize winner virtuosa. Read more
