Shkinder Maxim’s Concept Phone: Transformer phone and then some more
Remember Softbank’s “almost Transformer” mobile phone? Here now comes a phone that is really akin to the Transformers. It doesn’t turn into a robot but this one can transform into many different things: mobile phone, camera, multimedia player, projector, 3D scanning. and holographic imaging. But hey, don’t get too excited because this is just a concept by designer Shkinder Maxim. Read more
Softbank-Toshiba 815T PB: Mobile Phone Transformers (Almost)
It’s been more than six months since the Transformers movie was shown and some people still couldn’t get over the craze. Take for example the clamshell phone Toshiba 815T PB that well, transforms into a robot. The robo-phone features the basics any phone in Japan should have: GVGA display, 3.2 megapixels, and 3G. Gibson Robot Guitar: Talk about mechanizing the world

Well, it’s not like you didn’t already know that robotics would take over your hummables and guitars too, and then again this concept wasn’t as alien to us as robots taking over receptionist jobs right? So as much as this was bound to happen, it is sheer craziness to drown the beauty of playing the guitar by making it so automatic and mechanical. On a less philosophical note, The Gibson Robot Guitar, to be more precise can supposedly tune all six strings. I still think it’s a waste of time, but then again there are those rich mistresses who are going to consider this just the most romantic gift. Read more
An Audi Phone: Is Apple listening?
Some moneybags own the Audi and the iPhone, while others own either one. But then again, there is a third generation of fashionistas who will do it with a little more style. And it is for them indeed, that the Audi Phone (which you see up there) that the prototype is out. The handset is supposed to go with the concept car, acting as a combination key jumb, navigation unit, audio and video player, and interface for the car’s systems. It uses both wifi and UGMTS Communications to give you image capture via onboard digicams (more of a security feature) and also acts as a receiver for the car’s location-tracking device. Read more
Read more
A blackbox in your GPS – Something to smile and feel bad about at once
What you see up there, is not just some sleek looking GPS for the great-looking car you just bought, or well, wish to buy. It’s a GPS that’s actually capable of maintaining a record of accidents and car crashes. Well, no, it won’t help you avoid the crash. That’s something you got to do by keeping a tab on your forever booming testosterone levels or maybe be wise and don’t drink and drive.
When the Black Eagle GPS detects a deceleration of 1.1G or more, it assumes you’ve run into something , well mostly of the magnitude of a tree or a car, and saves an 18-second video of the collision. I’m still wondering, Read more
Transformers: The Japanese way of throwing surprises
Now, considering that Japan is soon to become synonymous with innovation and creativity with all the cool stuff that the Japanese intelligentsia keep coming up with day after day, it’s nothing but obvious that if real transformers existed, they had to be in Japan. Well, the fact is that it’s true, well, at least partly. The robot you see above, from a Japanese robotic competition, can actually transform from car mode to robot mode…cool init? It’s great to have a slice of a great movie in real life, and this one’s sure going to be something you dig as it’s of a movie that was as cool as it could get. Of course its as tiny as a robot could possibly be, but what would actually set this apart from being a regular, commercial or rather popular item is the lack of funding and of course the fact that something 10 times the size of this could not be cool, I guess just plain scary.
