iCub: Baby Robot to Learn How to Walk and Talk

Reading about robots that mimic humans is sometimes pretty scary. If the ReadyBot Dishwasher and Justin the Coffeemaker gave me the creeps, how much more will the iCub Baby Robot do to me? The robot’s head reminds me of Casper, the Friendly Ghost. But I am not sure if this one can be friendly once it learns how to think and talk. Researchers at the University of Plymouth are currently working on this project that is said to help them discover how language is taught.
Another impact of the study is the possibility of developing humanoid robots. But the iCub must undergo a lot of tests first from stacking wooden blocks, shape sorting, and speech development among others.
