Machines better than humans at fighting war?

johnny-5-howdyWell, in an era where fighting wars has becoming so common that it doesn’t even make front page news anymore, it is hardly something to worry about when robot manufacturers think they can use the technology to make robots that can fight wars. Well that school of thought comes from the fact that it is better to loose machines to war than men. I totally agree with this theory.

However, Prof Noel Sharkey clearly seems to disagree. Apparently he fears it will be a threat instead and terrorists might actually capture these robots and re-programme them to do potentially destructive things against the manufacturing country. But don’t you think that was possible anyway even if it was human life at stake?

Well, you and I don’t have a lot to worry about for a long time, as it might be some time before all these debates end. So those of you who are planning to take up careers in the military have really nothing to worry about as of now.
