Well as we all know the world of medicine is now changing, not only with pharmaceuticals, but with biomechanics linked to robotics and implants (not those implants from bay-watch), but the ones from the lab for a better performing of life functions as limbs for locomotion and hearing aids for pacemakers. Well now we also have new scope, which can be implanted into the eyes, technically an optical prosthetic. I love saying the word ‘polymethylacrylate’ which is what it is made of. Read more

For those who are hooked on to memories the way leaches are to berries, there are a thousand alternatives. Be it digital photo frames, digital wallets, cameras, phones, you name it and you got it. But how about having a digital photo frame key chain? Sure, it’s not something unheard off and there probably are quite a few dozens out there, but the one you see up there is made of brushed metal, which is what makes it far better looking than the rest.
Equipped with 8 MB memory, you can display all the pictures that you love on that 1.5 inch screen. I know it’s a little too small to hold a pic of Pamela Anderson, considering one boob of hers might take up the whole screen Read more
The iDJ2: Hey Mr. DJ, where’s your iPod today?
Warning: copy() [function.copy]: Filename cannot be empty in /home/momentin/public_html/robostyle/wp-content/plugins/mytube/mytube.php on line 220

Well, we all know that the iPod was an instant hit with everyone almost from day one. The day it hit the shelves, it was everywhere; many a times, there were more than 2 in the same family. As the iPod continues to become a one stop entertainment hub, it is absolutely obvious that the true music professionals the world over also want to use it at work.
For them, the iPod is not going to just be for listening on their drive back home or while in a long queue. They can actually make it an integral part of their careers with the iDJ2, a device that has recently been announced by Numark. It´s slated to enable the DJ to mix two tracks from the iPod and thus create the groove that can set the party afire.
It also supports MP3, WAV and AAC (non-DRM formats), and has a feature called the iPod Direct Mode, that can help you mix music from the iTunes store as well. It also has USB connectivity, enabling you to attach an external hard drive, a second iPod or well, just anything that supports some great music. Neat init? Moreover, as compared to the usually high DJing equipment costs, this one’s going to be available for a street price of $599(NiRa)
Toyota’s DJ Robot wants career change

Looks like switching jobs frequently is a teenage trend that has left even the robots affected. No kidding. Toyota is currently all about its DJ robot, apparently one that tasted profound success as a musician at the 2005 Aichi World Expo.
Incidentally, the robot, who is now seriously considering a job change, is on the lookout of becoming a receptionist. Funny as it may seem, looks like we have some heavy duty competition, and when we are being interviewed for coveted job roles, the group discussions might be with a team of metallic contenders. Well, chances are they would take you on that, too, considering they are machines, and their ability to retrieve information much higher. As for us poor souls, the next time we enter a reception, we might be welcomed by a phoney plastic robot instead of some hot hunk or gorgeous woman. Sad but true.

Unmanned Robots: Saving some skin for weary soldiers

For all mothers of the brave soldiers of our times, especially those whose sons are currently situated in the troubled waters of the Middle-Eastern countries, this might give some relief. What you see up there is not some gimmicky game for the soldiers to pass their time with, it is a robot that weighs 50 pounds or less and can be used to man the reconnaissance duty — looking out for insurgents, and their bombs. A government solicitation to robot-makers asks for a machine that can both “look into the window of a vehicle” and peek “under a vehicle undercarriage.” <!—more—>A rather useful device I say, especially with the recent spate of crimes on the ‘not-so-privacy-respecting- soldiers, as the people would call it. It comes in response to the recent requirement expressed by the government for unmanned robots to be deployed for the slightly riskier tasks when you’re out there during sensitive times. Almost 1,000 of these are expected to be out there by the end of the year, and another 2,000 in the next five years. (NR/j)

For all those who would love to adorn a piece of nature on them, the watch that you see up there might truly excite you. For one, it has this nice and woodish finish to make it look like a hand-crafted nature-lovers’ timepiece. Secondly, unlike wood, it’s waterproof. So that’s a double treat, what say?

Read more
Surgeon Cloning: Four-armed robot EndoWrists treats prostate cancer

Imagine you being anesthetized into a dream world, while on the toughest operation of your life, and being operated upon by thin tiny robotic hands. Sounds scary? Well, this type of surgery is already being used quite a bit in the ‘developed’ countries, and now, looks like Canada has joined the bandwagon, however, only for treating Prostate Cancer.
While the thought of my insides being fiddled with by plastic robotic hands gives me the creeps, it apparently is not such a bad idea after all. Read more
